International ... Peter Gabriel

'Sanremo again?!? But it is already past one week !!'...
Yes yes, we could rest assured at least a year, but we are still not able to detoxify and then continue undeterred with our little book, going to review what we believe are the best moments of Festival, which is great foreign guests.
go back to 1983 for this edition to forget for the winner, who was Tiziana Rival with his "that experience" , but definitely remember the fourth of Matia Bazar , who presented with their masterpiece "Roman Holiday" ...
The defining moment of the festival was, however, we believe the performance of a great contemporary music: Peter Gabriel . The founder of the legendary
Genesis (one of the most important Progressive Rock band in the world), from which, however, had been divorced since 1975, had arrived at the publication of his fourth solo album, without a name as the previous three ( In fact, it is customary to call only I, II, III and IV ), known to fans but also with the title of "Security" .
Famous for its highly theatrical show in which various characters are often used to disguise himself as a "fantastic" for his invention, even for the exhibition of San Remo was able to surprise its viewers ...
The song "sung" in playback for the occasion, was the super hit "Shock The Monkey" , beautiful song that describes the anxieties derived from jealousy, and leads through the image of a monkey (we suggest among other things, also the splendid original video clip). And the choreography proposals
Sanremo resumed precisely the figure of a primate, to whom the same Gabriel was rigged and of which he imitated the movements ... Very
show, with unexpected super surprise at the end (very famous), but we do not want to reveal to those who still have never had the pleasure of seeing ... But that blow! Shock!

Sanremo International ... Queen

The 61 th Festival of Sanremo and this year closed its doors, finally, we can state emphatically: 'honor to the winner'! It's not often that a triumph in fact be a singer and a piece of this quality: Roberto Vecchioni really deserved it and we have every reason to be happy with this result.
If we really want to but find a flaw in this edition (in addition to the nearly disastrous run), we can not see how this year have missed the big names in international music (assuming that the Take That, Avril Lavigne just not part this category).
We could not say that since the Festival of Italian music, this is definitely a "defect" secondary, but for us, "heterophile" (not on principle, but to taste) the fact is quite important.
Throughout its history, in fact, Sanremo has always had a large foreign guests and with this our little book we want to remember someone.
And 'a must then begin with the group preferred by this writer, that is one of Britain's most influential bands in rock history: the Queen!
exceptionally landed at the Festival in 1984, to promote the release of their album "The Works" and the upcoming tour that would hit Italy for the first and only time in history (with Freddie Mercury), although only two dates in Milan, in September of that year.
The piece presented for two consecutive evenings, was "Radio Ga Ga," the famous song written by drummer Roger Taylor, who reached the top of the charts worldwide, and then formed one of the pillars of the concerts that followed, with the distinctive hand claps of the audience (the unforgettable Wembley for Live Aid, the following year).
Even then, however, the Italians did not fail to recognize us, ordering one of the best live band in the world (if not the best ever) ... to sound playback! What
normal for the Sanremo 80s, but really eccezioale for Queen, who seldom had done and who did not accept at all the situation with good grace, blatantly showing their disapproval during the performance. Especially
Mercury, which in fact in singing, often lacked align the microphone to his mouth, just making note that the performance was not live.
Unfortunately for these 'artefacts' that we propose, the image quality is not great and even the early evening we have only one minute.
But surely it is worth reviewing these rock legends perform on a stage far too small, with just a playback, the usual mocking Ariston public property (which fortunately is not framed), with the launch of his jacket and flowers in end by a great and unforgettable Freddie Mercury ...
